REDBROOK GOLF SOCIETY
Redbrook Golf Society (RGS) is based around the village of Redbrook in the Wye Valley on the England / Wales border.
RGS first began as a pub society, playing it's annual Open event from The Boat Inn, Penallt in 2000.
Subsequently, RGS extended it's annual competitions to include The Bell Inn Open, sponsored by The Bell Inn, Redbrook and, in 2008 held the inaugural Wyeder Cup as a competition between the regulars of the two inns, either side of the River Wye. The Bell Inn took the honours that year and the competition was not played for a number of years after. The original Wyeder Cup was re-designated The Bell Winter Cup and played for as a third annual, open event.
Now the society has over 80 members and plays every month, throughout the year, at different venues in Wales and South-West England / West Midlands.
Spin off golfing events include 'inter-society' matches against teams from other golf societies; an annual trip to the Le Touquet area of the Cote D'Opale for golf at Le Touquet, Hardelot and Wimereux; and the prestigious annual England v Wales WYEDER CUP, which is the highlight of the society's annual calendar.
